Ballard Receives Special Meritorious Award
The 2009 recipient of the Association’s Special Meritorious Award is Carol Ballard from Tennessee. In 2002, Carol retired as Chief of Nursing of the Memphis-Shelby County Health Department with 33 years of service to Public Health. After her retirement, she moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, to be near family, and has become busier than ever with her volunteer work with her church and other organizations. SHA is proud that Carol continues her involvement with SHA.
Carol has been a member of the Southern Health Association for 24 years and has served on various committees and also as Secretary, but she is most remembered for chairing the Silent Auction committee for many years. Carol continues to contribute many handmade items for the silent auction each year. Carol has made and continues to make many "behind the scenes" contributions to SHA and is being honored for her many hours of service to the Association and also for her many monetary and in-kind contributions to SHA.
